West Caribbean Cuban Restaurant in Lakeland

We had the Kingfish and the Chimichurri Churassco. Very good. Very fresh tasting. Attentive servers. Not too crowded, but it was 2:00 in the afternoon.

This is probably one of the best restaurants that I have been to. The service is great, and the food was amazing!

Not only the food was great, but our server Jose, gave us outstanding service.

Very disappointed in food quality, service and pricing. My half grilled chicken was actually two tiny quarters of chicken that were fried to a crisp and incredibly dry. Plus my rice was cold. Server went AWOL so it took 20 minutes to hunt down our check. Prices are steep for what you get. Def will not return.

Every time we come here, the food is excellent, the wait staff is friendly and helpful, and it's become the only Cuban place that we'll go to. Highly recommend to everyone.

This place is awesome, the service is great, the food is sooooo good, clean and cozy, the food has the perfect seasoning! Is far from where I live, but is all worth it! If there were 10*, i would rate it 10!

We found this place while visiting Legoland. The food and service was fantastic. We order extra to take some back to the hotel for dinner.

I think I ordered the wrong thing. The staff was extremely courteous, and the dining room was spotless, but the Cuban sandwich was, um, not a Cuban sandwich. Not pressed, not on Cuban bread, more like a hot buttered ham sandwich. My dining companion's empanadas were amazing though, will definitely give them another shot when I'm in town again, seems like the Spanish and Mexican options were more on point. Since I worked in Ybor City and live in St. Pete, your Cuban sandwich game has got to be strong.

Flavorful food... Can be rather pricey for lunch.Im actually updating my previous review. Unfortunately, the quality of their food has diminished. If you notice, the 2nd photo has over cooked plantains with what appears to taste like days old chicken and rice.The atmosphere, however, is comfortable.. But, they don't really accommodate customers' requests and substitute menu items.

Me and my wife have dined here several times. They offer the best Cuban cuisine in the area. That said, they can and should do more to improve the quality of their product. For the price, they should give a little more food. We absolutely love their Ox Tails. However, as a 6-2 230lb man the portions are too small. Which brings me to my next issue, " The customer is always right." Due to the small portions, I asked if I could pay more for an extra ox tail. I was told no.....My last issue has to do with food preparation. On more than one occasion, my Ox tail plate appeared to have been re-heated in a microwave. I observed the tell-tale signs of hot and cold areas in my meat and rice.In closing, unless a better Cuban restaurant opens in the area, we will continue to dine here.

Food's great and nice staff.

This is a hidden gem. Amazing food, great deals on all of it. The best thing to order when going for the first time is the house special breakfast. It is two eggs any style, steak cooked in Mojo, Cuban coffee with milk, and half of loaf of Cuban bread buttered and toasted. The breakfast costs under 10 dollars and the restaurant never has a wait.

Don't let the outside appearance fool you, this place is pretty good!!! I really like their Cuban Coffee and the Traditional Cuban is pretty good and a decent size portion...good and fast service too. Great job guys.

Been here twice because there are so few cuban places in the area and this is the only one open when I look. The first time I came, the food was awesome and made exactly how we asked! The second time, not so much. Asked for lettuce and tomato on our cubans(sometimes we want it, sometimes we dont) and they didnt put either on either of our sandwiches, nor did they use the press. How are you going to send out two cuban sandwiches with soft and soggy bread AND missing the extra ingredients that were ordered? Stuffed potato was awesome both times, sweet plantains were great both times and the ham croquettes were awesome the first time but overcooked with a burnt taste the second time. So far the sandwiches and croquettes are hit and miss but I seriously appreciate a good papa rellena so will return and see if maybe they were just having a bad day last time. Fingers crossed, I dont want to have to drive all the way to tampa for good cuban food.

This was my first time eating here. The atmosphere was subdued and you can easily carry on a conversation. The waiter was pleasant and friendly. He didn't push in too much and was there when needed. I ordered Cabrito (Goat), Yuca and MOJO and Maduros ( sweet fried plantains). Everything was very good. The Cabrito was seasoned and in a sauce. It was very tender and not a strong taste. I loved the Yuca and MOJO. My only issue was the Maduros weren't freshly fried. They were barely warm. I love my Maduros hot. Overall, it was a good experience and I will return to try another dish.

Attended a birthday dinner here food was good a bit greasy and over fried but not to bad

I understand that the party I was in was large, but most of the food i had was dry. The beans and rice side was extremely dry, and I found to rectangular transparent objects in it that kinda looked like tape. The hígado a la plancha was also dry, with parts that were extremely chewy, almost like rubber. But at least the sweet tea and fried plantains bananas they serve was good.

If you are looking to have great Cuban food, friendly staff and decent price this is the place. Go an ask for Jose i promise you won't regret it!!!

Great place I suggest all that haven’t eaten there to go check it out. Great service and great food. Also my best friend Eric works there as a waiter, he’s a GREAT waiter and is always helpful if u don’t know much about the food. Great place y’all go check it out.

We had wonderful service and the food was amazing!!! I had the Oxtails and my boyfriend had the steak... sooo good! The staff is wonderful and the atmosphere is relaxing and fun. We will definitely be back!!

Ropa veja was very delicious. All food was very authentic Cuban and wait staff was incredibly polite. Batitos were also amazing.

Very delicous food, staff is friendly and cuban which is a plus, sadly only two problems was price of items were 5% higher than other cuban places and the cafe con leche had no sugar nor was i offered sugar for the drink.

Impeccable customer service compared to other restaurants I've visited. But I paid close to $40 for 2 take out entrees that was NOT even close to being filled. I don't know about you, but I like to get my money's worth. If I paid $40 for taste. I can get on I4 go straight to Tampa right on the corner of Armenia and Hanely Avenue pay $20 maybe $25 the most! For 2 traditional Cuban style entrees and both my entrees be slap full with your traditional Cuban meal. Just putting that out there.

Worst Cuban sandwich I have ever eaten, tiny portion of meat on the sandwich and they don't use roasted pork like any real Cuban I've had and I've had TONS....they use a nasty tasting sliced pork. The bread taste like regular white bread and nothing like true Cuban bread, asked for my sandwich pressed and it was not pressed at all. Beef empanada was dry and tasteless. Breakfast menu was tiny and service was slow and horrible. I was embarrassed that I brought a group of 7 from my job there that's for sure. Also k ow their FB is fake as they deleted my negative comment on their fake sandwich picture post and never even reached out to me about the issues.

Went for dinner. Super attentive and polite staff without being awkward. Just good. The food was perfect, fresh, and delicious. You can tell when a cook loves their job because the food is cooked as if they were making for their own family. Prices are affordable. The location isn't the best (combee). But I kind of like that bc it means faster service without annoying crowds.

Ordered take out, ropa veja and had a beer at the bar while waiting. The service was good food was good but the portions were ABSOLUTELY Awful!!!! I paid almost $20 for a child's plate. 😢

If you're looking for a taste of traditional Cuban food in Lakeland, this is the place to go. Being from Miami, it had been a while since I had a good Cuban meal. Their Ropa Vieja was fantastic and the portion sizes were generous. Looking forward to going again soon.

Tasty authentic Caribbean food. The oxtail is amazing. Only drawback is no draft beer but still have great bottled selections. Friendly staff. Must try it!

The coffee was amazing, but their entrees needed some help. The chicken was dry and flavorless. The black beans were lacklustre. But the fried sweet plantains were nice!

Love this restaurant. Our favorite family restaurant to eat at. The staff is amazing and friendly. The food is delicious. Rosa, Erica, Ismel & Jose are absolutely the BEST. If you want to eat the BEST Cuban Food in Lakeland come to West Caribbean.
